Rays All-Time Pitching Strikeout Leaders

Last Updated: August 31, 2026

James Shields still sits atop the Rays pitching strikeout list with 1,250. That total was built as the durable Friday night starter of the club’s first sustained contention, and it remains the franchise standard for missing bats over a Tampa Bay career.

Chris Archer is second with 1,167. David Price is third with 1,065. The gap from Shields to Archer is real, and the gap from Archer to Price is real. Names further down the board — including pitchers still adding innings — can rearrange the rest of the ten without touching the top three overnight.

Strikeouts are not the only way to judge a Rays pitcher. They are the cleanest way to see who lasted long enough, and missed enough bats, to own a line in the record book. When an active arm crosses one of these marks, this page updates.

Figures are franchise career totals for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays / Rays, drawn from Baseball-Reference pitching leaderboards. Active pitchers can still move. This page will be updated rather than rewritten each season.
